FLINTSHIRE residents will have the opportunity to save up to three lives by donating blood at a session held in Holywell next month.

Welsh Blood is holding two donation calls in Holywell on Monday, February 15 as well as the following Tuesday, February 16.

The sessions will take place at the St Peter's Church, on Rose Hill, and two timeslots will run on each day.

Donation sessions will be held between 12.30pm and 3.30pm and again from 5pm to 7.30pm for Monday. On Tuesday, donors can opt for times between 12pm and 3pm and again from 4.30pm to 7pm.

Anyone aged between 17 and 66, weighing over 7st 12lbs and not subject to certain medical conditions can volunteer.

Donations are used in a variety of ways, from helping emergency operations and accident victims to cancer patients and premature babies.

The Welsh Blood Service has reassured the public that blood collection sessions are safe and classed as essential travel.

Its staff are trained in infection control and the collection sessions are organised to allow for safe social distancing.

All donors are required to wear medical grade face masks, provided by Welsh Blood Service upon arrival, whilst donating until advised otherwise.

Sessions are by appointment only so, to book a place, go to www.welshblood.org.uk or call 0800 252 266.

Alternative dates and locations are also available.
