A HOME care provider that operates in Wrexham and Flintshire is to provide free lockdown activity books.

Home Instead Senior Care will be offering the books for those aged 60 and over in the two County Boroughs, in order to support those who may be socially isolated and lacking mental stimulation during the current lockdown.

The books have been designed with older people in mind and contain a range of quizzes, crosswords and general knowledge based games, in order to help them fight boredom and to keep their minds stimulated.

Heather Collin, community engagement lead at Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire, said: "Due to coronavirus, older people have lost out on social interaction and the activities they once enjoyed, such as lunch clubs and day centres as well as visits from family and friends.

"The long-term effects of being at home are anxiety, loss of confidence and general withdrawal from life.

"Whilst we aim to combat this as part of our home care services, we are making these booklets available to all older people in the area to help them stay mentally active, despite the isolation and restrictions they may be experiencing."

The books are available to individuals or in bulk to local community groups who are able to distribute to their members at home.

To order the booklets, contact Heather on 07757 538050 or via newales@homeinstead.co.uk.

Supplies are limited and only available to those living in Wrexham and Flintshire.
