WORK has begun to transform and expand Wrexham's Home Bargains store.

TJ Morris Limited, which is behind the proposals, submitted an application for the new store on Holt Road in 2018, saying it would measure approximately 3,108 square metres and would have more space for food and drink.

The new store will be on the same site as the current Home Bargains as well as the adjoining unit to make a single unit occupied by the extended store.

The shop is now closed and the work has begun.

A spokesman for TJ Morris Ltd said: "The store is closed and is undergoing refurbishment for the time being. They are doing a full refurbishment, its going to be more than double the size of the current store and will have more facilities. It's going to be bigger and better."

The spokesman added that there was no date for completion and reopening as yet.
