Jack Sargeant MS paid tribute to staff at volunteers at Deeside's mass vaccination centre

There is no doubt that the positive news about the covid vaccine roll-out offers a ‘glimmer of hope’ for a brighter 2021, but there is still a long road ahead.

Member of the Senedd for Alyn and Deeside, Jack Sargeant said he was delighted to see vaccination programme in action as he visited Deeside’s mass vaccination centre.

On Tuesday, staff and volunteers worked incredibly hard to vaccinate around 700 people in one day.

With local GP surgeries delivering the vaccine and more larger vaccination sites coming online next week, the Betsi Cadwaladr UHB is progressing quickly, rolling out the nation's biggest vaccination programme in its history.

Last week North Wales led the way in the numbers of vaccinations administered.

The Leader previously reported that the North Wales Health Board has received further doses of the vaccines and is confident they can meet timeline targets.

Mr Sargeant said: "NHS staff and volunteers are working incredibly hard and it was uplifting to see what they are doing at the forefront of delivering a brighter future for us all.

"I know that residents would want me to thank everyone involved in this huge operation and I was delighted to be able to do so."

The NHS will let you know when it's your turn to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

People are being urged not to contact their GP and to remember the NHS will not ask for bank details.

As the vaccination programme is being rolled out and there is once again hope after a gruelling ten months, sadly scams are also on the rise.

Health Minister Vaughan Gething said earlier this week that if you think you have been targeted, then tell someone you trust but the covid vaccine is free.
