ARRIVA bus services in Wrexham are running on a significantly reduced rate amid a Covid outbreak amongst local bus drivers.

From Wednesday (January 13) Arriva services running in and out of Wrexham will run on a reduced timetable after 28 of its Wrexham-based bus drivers tested positive for coronavirus.

Several communities will be left without a bus service with their's being suspended until further notice.

Changes to Arriva services in Wrexham are as follows:

Service 1 Chester - reduced to an hourly frequency (was every 15 minutes)

Service 3 Penycae - reduced to an hourly frequency (was every 30 minutes)

Service 5 Llangollen - reduced to an hourly frequency (was every 40 minutes)

Service 7 Caia Park - reduced to an hourly service in peak, and some service gaps in the day (was every 30 minutes)

Service 12 and 14 Tanyfron and Brymbo - reduced to hourly frequency and operates as a circular service in one direction only (was every 20 minutes)

Service 21 Summerhill - reduced to hurly frequency (was every 30 minutes)

Service 27 Mold - reduced to two hour frequency (5 journeys per day - was hourly)

Service 33 Llay - reduced to an hourly frequency (was every 30 minutes)

Service 41A Wrexham Industrial Estate - reduced to hourly in peak and some service gaps in the day (was hourly and some further reductions may follow)

Service X51 Ruthin to Wrexham - Awaiting timetable (a service will be maintained)

The following services will be suspended and therefore the following communities will have a reduced/not have access to a bus service:

Service 4 - Rhos/Afonietha

Service 8 - Caia Park (but still has access to Service 7)

Service 11 - Minera

Service 21A - Summerhill (but still has access to Service 21)

Service - 35 Plas Golbourne

Arriva Midlands - Proposed/to be confirmed:

2/2A Oswestry - hourly daytime service on each route

2C Cefn Mawr - suspended (replaced with 2B generally with a 30 minute frequency with some gaps during daytime hours - this service will assist with providing capacity along Wrexham Road corridor - Ruabon - Wrexham)

Stagecoach (from January 18):

Service 5 Chester - reduces to 7 journeys per days at approximately 90 minutes frequency)
