A WREXHAM retailer made its final charitable donation before closing its doors for good.

QD, which closed on Christmas Eve, has bid a fond farewell to the town with a final donation of £2,213 to Nightingale House Hospice.

QD has been fundraising and supporting Nightingale House since the store opened in the town 10 years ago. In total, QD has raised £11,792.69 for the hospice. QD raised these latest funds through sales of its five pence plastic carrier bags and made the £2,213 donation this week as a parting gift.

Nightingale House provides specialist palliative care services, completely free-of-charge, to patients and their families across a wide area stretching from Wrexham, Flintshire and east Denbighshire to Barmouth and the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch.

Paul Bentley, manager of QD Wrexham, said: “Nightingale House is a brilliant local charity and our in-store team have been keen to support them as much as possible.

"We are very sad to be leaving Wrexham but it is a pleasure to make this final donation which will help Nightingale House carry on its great work.

"Thank you to all our customers who have shopped with us during our 10 years in Wrexham and for their help in supporting Nightingale House.”

Amanda Kinsey, community and event fundraising manager of Nightingale House Hospice, said: “We are extremely grateful for the support the QD store has given to Nightingale House Hospice. "They have kindly fundraised each year by donating all the money from carrier bag sales to hospice care, which has raised an amazing £11,792.69.

"We are sad to see them closing their doors in Wrexham but we appreciate their fundraising efforts over the years which has contributed to providing services for patients and families in the Wrexham and surrounding area – thank you QD.”
