OFFICERS are to continue checking areas in Flintshire for covid rule-breakers after a number of people were reported over the weekend.

North Wales Police's Flintshire North Team reminded residents of the ongoing restrictions and rules around exercise after visiting Wepre Park.

A spokesman for the team said: "Please remember you cannot travel for the purpose of exercise unless you have a very good reason such as requiring to attend somewhere flat due to a disability.

"Exercise must start and finish at home - we know previously you've been allowed to travel but that is not now the case.

"We have been at a number of locations, including Wepre Park, where a number of people have been reported for the breaches."

The team confirmed that Sunday's covid patrols were "less eventful" but warned that didn't mean officers would stop doing them.

A spokesman added: "Please continue to adhere to the lockdown.

"We are aware of complaints about Wepre Park again and of the LifeBoat station in Flint. "Officers will continue to periodically check these areas and others in-between our normal duties.

"We won't labour the point, but the Police get neither pleasure nor money for issuing these fines.

"It is done to discourage people from running the risk of placing unnecessary burden on our already strained NHS.

"Let's work together and help to stop the spread and save lives."
