A CEFN Mawr man has been jailed after he admitted several breaches of a sexual harm prevention order, as well as making indecent images of children.

Jason Kendrick, aged 44 and of Well Street, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Thursday for sentencing.

He had already admitted seven counts of breaching the ongoing SHPO he was the subject of, as well as making indecent images, at a previous hearing.

Phillip Clemo, prosecuting, said Kendrick had been the subject of the SHPO since 2011.

In August 2019 police and probation officers visited him for a compliance check.

He was asked to provide his devices for inspection.

It was discovered that his mobile phone had a piece of software installed which allowed materials to be deleted so they couldn't be forensically recovered.

North Wales Police was later alerted by the Cheshire Constabulary to indecent images having been accessed from Kendrick's location.

He was arrested and further devices were taken and examined.

A forensic examination revealed four indecent images of children on a computer and more than 60 files - the images for which couldn't be viewed - which indicated a sexual interest in children in the titles.

There was also evidence of access to web chat rooms, in breach of the terms of the SHPO.

Dafydd Roberts, defending, said: "The best point I can make is that he has pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

"The offence dates back to 2019 and there has been no evidence of further offending since then."

Judge Rhys Rowlands said: "You sourced illegal images and took steps to hide your activity by acquiring and downloading software.

"This is a worrying complete lack of compliance on your part and calls into question your motivation to change or genuinely address your behaviour."

He said a pre-sentence report about Kendrick's background made "depressing reading" and added: "It begs the question what on earth the court has to do to prevent you committing further offences."

Judge Rowlands handed Kendrick a two year custodial sentence for the breach of the SPHO.

He also activated a suspended six month sentence, first imposed at Mold in 2018, which Kendrick had breached.

The two sentences must be served consecutively, making his overall jail term two-and-a-half years.

Judge Rowlands also made Kendrick the subject of a new SHPO.
