TRIBUTES have been paid to a "lovely and caring" soldier from Wrexham.
Nicholas Edwards, known as Nick, died suddenly on November 30 - aged just 27.
The father-of-one from Marchwiel served in the British Army for five years, joining the Corps of the Royal Engineers and serving at 24 Commando Engineers regiment and then at 61 support Squadron 36 Engineers regiment.
His family and friends have paid tribute to him.
Jodie Davies, Nick's former partner and mother of his young child (Logan), said: "He was lovely, caring, the best friend anyone could ever have had.
"He idolised Logan and his family and he was such a rock for Logan and I.
"If me or Logan needed anything he was always there for us."
"He was the best son to Cheryl and Richard, dad to Logan, brother to Sophie, Owen, Gemma, and Alyssa and the best mate anyone could have wished for."
Nick's brother Owen added: "He was the best son, brother, mate, dad anyone could ask for and we all love and will miss him so much."
Nick was a keen football fan, and Brickfield Rangers Football Club - whose under 9 team Nick's son Logan plays for - held a memorial match in his memory.
And Nick's friends Joshua Brown and Ryan Mitchell have also set up a GoFundMe page in aid of his son Logan and family.
They said: "Nick was a well-loved friend and had a heart of gold.
"Nick unfortunately left behind his young son Logan and family. We have decided to set this page up to help his family and to give Nick a send off he deserves.
"Nick always was there to help others no matter what the situation was and was a strong figure to his peers and family."
The GoFundMePage can be donated to here.
People wanting to pay their respects to Nick are welcome to attend his burial on Friday (December 18) at 1.40pm at the cemetery of the Parish Church of St Deinoil and St Marcella in Marchwiel.
