As most of us know, a puppy, or any pet for that matter, is not for Christmas. Not something to be treated as a few day's entertainment before it's realised just how much effort is required.

But for those willing to accept and keep up the responsibility and commitment, there are still so many animals waiting for their forever homes.

Adoption can make such a positive change in an animal's life but it can be equally rewarding for those who take them on.

North Clwyd Animal Rescue, near Holywell, continue to find homes for dogs, cats and smaller animals, and today we meet just a few looking to be rehomed with love.

If you are interested in any of these animals or would like more details, please visit ncar.org.uk or phone 01745 560546.

The Leader:

• Ollie is a handsome Jack Russell cross who came to NCAR due to his owner being unable to cope with his behaviour. We have been working with him since he arrived and he has built up a good bond with some staff members, and so we now feel he is ready to be rehomed. He needs a special home that can understand it may take some time for him to show his true personality as he can be quite timid at first. Due to this, Ollie is looking for an adult only home with no visiting children younger than 16-years-old. Ollie did not have much experience around other dogs before coming to the rescue, however we have mixed him with some calm dogs and he has coped well. But we feel he would do best as the only pet in the home. With some time, patience and respect of his nervous nature, Ollie will be a great companion and show off his cheeky and affectionate personality.

The Leader:

• Waffle is a female black cat about two-years-old, who came to the rescue after being seen for about five months as a stray at a caravan park. She arrived with her newborn kittens, which have all found homes. She is a friendly girl who enjoys a fuss. We are looking for a home with children over 10-years-old. Waffle would like a garden and safe outdoor space to venture out into once she has settled into her new home, and would like to be the only pet in the house.

The Leader:

• Benny is a four-year-old wolfhound cross who has been returned to us. He is a very bouncy and friendly lad and greets new people like they are old friends. He does need teaching some manners however, as when introducing himself he does tend to jump up. Benny is looking for an adult-only home, as he can be jealous of children, and so would prefer to have all the attention to himself. Benny is a very playful boy and he loves all kinds of toys and having a good run around, therefore he would really love a big garden with fencing of at least 6ft high. Benny is very anxious around other dogs and can be reactive at times. Due to this, Benny is looking for a home as the only pet. Advice and help will be given by the behaviour team at NCAR. Overall, Benny is a very sweet and affectionate boy who will be an amazing companion in the right home.

The Leader:

• Snowy is male, just over one-year-old, white in colour with one yellow eye and one blue. He is deaf but was previously allowed to go outside and was hit by a car, where he suffered a fractured pelvis. We are looking for a very special home for him, as he is very unpredictable in nature and will bite. We are looking for a remote home for him that has a long driveway so there are no roads around at all. This will give him the chance to still be able to go outside but in a safe environment. He may be able to live with a quiet cat savvy dog but no other cats or other animals. Due to his nature it must be an adult-only home with people who will give him space. A utility room or limited access downstairs would be ideal for him.
