A FLINTSHIRE woman was able to fill her entire living room with donations going straight to the North Wales Superkids grotto.

Buckley’s Yen Leung was blown away by the response to her social media appeal for donations to the annual appeal which ensures children right across North Wales have something to look forward to on Christmas Day.

Yen, who is head coach of Buckley Cheerleading Club, said: “We shared our appeal through Buckley Cheerleading Club and amongst our family and friends and the word just spread.

“We decided to do drop off points and collection days where our coaches were scheduled to pick up gifts to make it easy for people to donate.”

She went on to say that they were “completely overwhelmed” by the generosity and kindness of everyone who made a donation.

She added: “We are so thankful to all who have donated, they are the ones that have made the difference, we were just the ones that brought it all together!

“It feels really special that these gifts can make a difference to some families this Christmas.”

The gifts were dropped off at Superkids on December 1 so they can go into quarantine before being packed up by the charity’s elves and sent out to families in need across the region.

Yen added: “We met Margaret and her volunteers and are just in awe of what they do each year, without them it wouldn’t happen.

“As a voluntary club we are passionate about helping people and the community and this was something we believed we could help with.

“We usually have a busy year of competitions and events but, as everything was cancelled this year, we wanted to keep busy and put our focus into something that could help others - especially in these unprecedented times.

“We came across Superkids charity and instantly wanted to help especially when you hear of the difficulties that families go through.”

For the past two years, The Leader has given its support to North Wales Superkids, an amazing charity gathering gifts for children of all ages who may otherwise receive nothing this Christmas.

This year, when it is more important than ever, we are doing the same again.
