FLINTSHIRE residents will have the opportunity to save up to three lives by donating blood at a session held in Connah’s Quay this week.

Welsh Blood is holding a donation calls in Connah’s Quay on Thursday, November 26.

The event will take place at the Civic Hall in Wepre Drive and two timeslots will run with donation sessions held between 12pm and 3pm and again from 4.30pm to 7pm.

Anyone aged between 17 and 66, weighing over 7st 12lbs and not subject to certain medical conditions can volunteer.

Donations are used in a variety of ways, from helping emergency operations and accident victims to cancer patients and premature babies.

The Leader previously reported that the service is running low on certain stocks of blood – namely B Negative and O Negative.

A service spokesman said: "Please consider booking an appointment to donate if you know you are one of these groups, or if you have never donated before and would like to know your group. You can save lives."

The Welsh Blood Service has reassured the public that blood collection sessions are safe.

Its staff are trained in infection control and the collection sessions are organised to allow for safe social distancing.

Sessions are by appointment only so, to book a place, go to welshblood.org.uk or call 0800 252 266.

Alternative dates and locations are also available.
