A FUNDRAISING page has been set up to support the family of a young Connah's Quay man.

A major search was launched on Friday when 21-year-old Darren Thorley, known as Daz, was reported missing.

The search was ended on Sunday when a body was found near the River Dee by coastguards on Sunday.

Friends of Darren have rallied round to raise money to support his family and pay for the funeral.

The Leader:

Darren Thorley

The page was started by Ethan Hughes and has raised more than £1,100.

Ethan said his friend was "one of the funniest, craziest, caring and down to earth lad we all know, and I'm sure everyone who knew Darren can agree. Always brought a smile to everyone's face without a doubt, whether he was trying to or simply just being Nerrad or Daz as some would call him."

He added that Darren was the "heart and soul of the party. Brought life to every place he went to and was loved by all who knew him."

"Unfortunately Darren has sadly passed away and it has touched many people's hearts. This Just Giving page is to help Darren's family raise just a bit of money to help with funeral costs.

"Thank you, everyone."

Through Ethan, Darren's family thanked those who had supported them.
