FORMER Wrexham AFC chairman and lifelong supporter Pryce Griffiths was applauded as he visited the club dear to his heart one last time.

People stood outside The Racecourse to pay their respects to Mr Griffiths who joined the Reds' board of directors in 1977, before being named chairman seven years later.

Due to the current restrictions, the funeral service at St. James' Church Rhosddu was by invitation only, followed by committal at Pentrebychan Crematorium.

But the funeral procession called at the home of the football team with which his life was forever entwined..

On the field, his time at the club saw great success with promotion in 1978, multiple European Cup Winners Cup ties, the famous victory over Arsenal, promotion in 1993 and Welsh Cup successes.

And, when he was in late-70s, a stand at The Racecourse named in his honour.

He continued to live in the town following his retirement and passed away, aged 96, on November 11.
