GWERNYMYNYDD CP SCHOOL

The Leader:

Pupils celebrated Children in Need Day by dressing in an odd way.

The idea being that with it being such an odd year children and staff would come to school dressed very oddly.

Some pupils had their shirts and jumpers on back to front, some had trouser legs missing and some, like head teacher Louise Ankers, had odd shoes on.

It was also a memorable day for teaching assistant Jean Droog who, along with caretaker husband Richard, retired on the same day after many years of great service.

Louise Ankers says Jean will be sadly missed in the classroom by all pupils, staff and parents and that she had worked tirelessly to improve the literacy and numeracy of countless children over the years.

ALUN SCHOOL, MOLD

Year 8 students spent time planting daffodils at the school, ready to bring some colour in the spring.

The Leader:

ST MARY’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL, FLINT

The Leader:

Last week, along with many others across the region, staff and pupils of stopped, paused and reflected on all of the brave heroes who fought for our freedom.

Gathering around the school’s remembrance display, the school council is pictured with Mrs Powell and Mrs Wilson who designed the display using poppies created by the pupils of the school.

This is a very special area where our children, staff and families of the school can remember and reflect.

MADRAS VA PRIMARY SCHOOL, PENLEY

Reception class.

The Leader:

CONNAH'S QUAY HIGH SCHOOL

The Leader:

Learners and staff at the school last week paid their respects to those who have lost their lives at war, and held a two-minute silence to honour the fallen across all conflicts throughout history.

Learners who are members of the cadets attended school in their cadet uniform to take part in the remembrance ceremony.

Pete Hawley took the salute. The flag was then replaced to full mast and Mr Hawley read The Fallen by Laurence Binyon.

A two-minute silence was also held as a school and the headteacher, Amanda Harrison, delivered an assembly about Armistice Day to all learners remotely.

In the afternoon, Mr Hawley visited some classes to explain the story behind his medals.

Mr Hawley served in the Yorkshire Regiment on peacekeeping missions all over the world and retired in 2012 after a long career.
