MORE than 1,500 home burglaries have been reported across Flintshire in recent years, according to data.

Freedom of Information data obtained by the Leader shows how many such incidents have been reported at homes across the county each year since 2017.

From the beginning of 2017 to date, there were 1,541.

In 2017, Holywell West had the highest number of burglary reports (26) with Connah's Quay Central having 23 and Sealand having 16.

In 2018, Holywell West again had the most burglary reports (26) and Sealand had the second highest (21) followed by Holywell East, with 20.

In 2019 Holywell West and Shotton West had the highest number of burglaries (18 each) and Sealand had 17.

Sgt Alison Sharp of North Wales Police's community safety team, said: “We ask people to be vigilant and report  suspicious circumstances, persons and  vehicles to 101.

"We also encourage people  keep an eye on elderly neighbours’ properties, consider joining neighbourhood watch group and to  visit the Secured by Design website which is police accredited: https://www.securedbydesign.com

"We also advise visiting  the Friends Against Scams website and our website."

Sgt Sharp added following a burglary, reactive measures by North Wales Police include increased patrols, house to house enquiries, looking for witnesses and letting neighbours know that a crime has happened and for them to remain vigilant.
