AN events planner from Wrexham has devised the perfect alternative to trick or treating for children.

Katie Skellon, 34, has innovated a socially distanced 'Ghost Hunt' to ensure that children do not miss out on the Halloween festivities because of the current 'fire-break' lockdown.

The former deputy head teacher is asking people throughout the County Borough to simply draw a picture of a ghost and display it in their window on October 31, in order for children to find as many as they can, which she stated as being 'just as much for the people in the houses' as it is for the children.

She said: "On Halloween, get dressed up for your 'Ghost Hunt' and see how many you can spot.

"Recent events have genuinely turned children's lives upside down and they have been so brilliant and so resilient - it's so important we reward them and create some amazing family memories."

Halloween is usually a time when people come together to treat the younger members of their community, however due to Covid-19, parents and children are being encouraged not to go out trick or treating this year.

Ms Skellon stated that with all the technological communication we have experienced this year, we have 'lost sight' of the importance of human connection.

She added: "It's about engagement and happy faces, and we hope to continue with that."
