"Isabella was born by elective caesarean. We arrived by 7am and I went into the ward to get ready and wait for my slot, while my husband waited in the corridor. The staff were lovely and the midwife who was going to be in theatre with me. Anaesthetists and surgeons came to check that I was ready. When it was time I walked to theatre with my midwife to be prepped and my husband met us there.

"All of the theatre staff were introduced to us and the whole team were very nice and happy, which made the procedure much more pleasant. Our baby girl was lifted up in a Lion King moment for us to see her for the first time and then my husband was able to cut the cord shorter and she was placed on me.

"We were able to to spend a fair amount of time together whilst the procedure was finished and after on the labour ward. We were able to video call my other daughters for them to meet their baby sister. It had been a hard time in pregnancy, when no one could come to any appointments, especially the scans, and the prospect of being in hospital alone waiting for the section was daunting but on the day the staff were friendly and did the best they could with all of the restrictions in place.

"We would to thank all of the staff that were on duty that day from the surgeon and anaesthetist to the care assistants and cleaners."
