A MAN who bombarded his former partner with messages of harassment and threatened to stab her neighbour has been jailed.

Rikki Dulson, of Pentre Gwyn in Wrexham, appeared at Mold Crown Court for sentencing on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old had previously admitted making a threat with a bladed article, harassment and criminal damage.

Jade Tufail, prosecuting, told the court he embarked on a campaign of harassment against his former partner Kara Jones before she made a complaint to police this year.

They'd had a short relationship three years ago and had a daughter.

This was rekindled in September last year, but ended after two weeks.

Dulson began to send her numerous messages by phone and when she blocked his number he used numerous devices belonging to family members.

Ms Jones' list of blocked numbers was getting longer than her contact list, the court heard, and she changed her number as well as coming off social media.

But Dulson started sending emails instead, hurling abuse and threats warning her about entering a new relationship.

On May 30 this year he turned up at her home in Brymbo and knocked on the doors and windows before shouting abuse.

Ms Jones watched via a CCTV camera as Dulson hung around for three hours, then ripped the camera from the wall and left.

Dulson even tried to reach her via her bank, transferring 1p into her account with the reference "ring me please".

He turned up at her address again in June and appeared to be drunk, arriving at about 3am and waiting around for a few minutes before leaving.

Returning a few hours later, he threw stones at the window and police were called to remove him. Ms Jones made a complaint about his harassment in July and when arrested Dulson made full admissions about his behaviour.

He was told not to enter his former partner's street, but he did so in August - turning up in his mother's dressing gown shortly after 7am, banging on the window and trying to persuade her to come out.

Dulson became abusive, the court heard, telling Ms Jones "If I can't be with you, we go together."

Her neighbour George Phoenix was on his way out to work and came to see what the problem was.

Dulson threw a bottle at him before threatening to stab him while holding a pair of nail scissors.

Mr Phoenix tackled him to the ground and threw away the scissors, detaining him until the police arrived.

In a victim impact statement Ms Jones said she'd been left feeling unsafe and scared by the incident.

Jade Tufail said prior to the hearing, Dulson had written four letters to Ms Jones from prison.

In the letters he asked her to promise not to speak to other men so they could "be a family again."

Sion Ap Mihangel, defending, said: "The defendant suffers from bipolar, he has been diagnosed since 2017. "He becomes depressed, suffers panic attacks and anxiety."

Regarding the day of the threats with scissors, he continued: "On the day, he was suffering from panic attacks and had sought comfort from his partner.

"He hadn't set out carrying a blade, he simply picked up what happened to be close at hand which was his mother's dressing gown. "It was in the dressing gown pocket that the scissors were located.

"The defendant does become fixated with partners - that is evidenced in the messages he bombarded his partner with.

"He struggles with relationships coming to an end."

Judge Rhys Rowlands described Dulson's behaviour as "unsettling," telling him: "You're a dangerously obsessive individual.

"[Ms Jones] had to make considerable changes to her lifestyle as a result of your behaviour."

Judge Rowlands handed Dulson a total jail term of 21 months.

Dulson was also made the subject of a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting his former partner or entering her street.
