PATROLS have been stepped up in a Wrexham community following sightings of a stranger in gardens.

North Wales Police's Wrexham town team confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that officers have been conducting high visibility foot patrols in the areas of Villiers Street, Gibson Street, Peel Street, Princess Street, Court Road and Jubilee Road.

Officers have been speaking with residents and providing reassurance following reports of "some suspicious activity in the vicinity."

Wrexham Inspector Victor Powell confirmed the reports, which came in on Monday evening, were of sightings of an unidentified person in some gardens in the area, with no explanation.

He said: "We are trying to identify who was in those gardens and around some of the back alleys of the terraces in and around Offa and why, in order to get an understanding of what has gone on. "The person made off unchallenged.

"If you have information call 101, contact your neighbourhood police team or stop an officer in uniform and let them know."
