A DEESIDE group has pledged to deliver free meals to local families who may be struggling this half term.

In response to the national campaign led by footballer Marcus Rashford, the Deeside Round Table has joined forced with Morrisons supermarket in Connah's Quay to deliver 30 free meals a day this half-term week.

A spokesman for the group said: "This week we can deliver 30 free meals to local families with children who may be experiencing hardship at present.

"The Welsh government have committed to continuing to provide meals for those registered for Free School Meals but we also realise that because of the on-going loss of income for the self-employed and local freelancers and because other local people continue to suffer job losses or have their hours cut because of the pandemic, some local families who might not previously have been assessed for Free School Meals might now find themselves in a position where they need a little bit of extra support.

"So, if you know of a family who might need a bit of help, who would benefit from us delivering a free kids lunch this week, please message us."
