By Jack Sargeant, MS for Alyn and Deeside

Almost 12 months ago the Prime Minister promised us more police on our streets and safer communities.

He came to Deeside Industrial Estate to make this promise. This promise has been broken and I want to know why, and I want the police officers he claimed we would get.

Over the summer I used social media to gather evidence, to show the Prime Minister and Home Secretary just how bad things have gotten as a result of 10 years of Tory police cuts.

I am extremely grateful to the residents who came forward and I have raised these issues locally with the council and North Wales Police.

What was crystal clear however, is that North Wales Police need more resources and more police officers to tackle many of these issues.

Many of these incidents reported would be classified by the Home Office as low level but they are not low level when you are affected by them. I am in the process of conducting another residents' survey and already one issue is shining through "we need more police on the streets".

As you will have read in the pages of the Leader, I have written to the Home Secretary to get some answers and have yet to get a reply.

So I decided to recruit a new ally in my campaign, Wales' First Minster Mark Drakeford. During First Minister's Questions in the Senedd, I asked Mark if he would raise the matter of our missing police officers, directly with the Prime Minister. Mark reminded us that promise was only to restore police levels to 2010 numbers, we of course need more than this.

So, I need your help to get more police on our streets. I would like you to write to me stating "I am backing Jack's campaign for more police officer in Alyn and Deeside", please also include a brief description outlining why.

I will take these letters right to the top and use them to make our argument. You can email me at Jack.Sargeant@Senedd.wales or write to 70 High Street, Connah's Quay, CH5 4DD.
