Ysgol Bryn Alyn, Wrexham

The school showed real initiative in supporting students moving to secondary school during lockdown, through a variety of activities to make their move a little bit easier.

Students completed a 'Time Capsule' booklet recording their thoughts and feelings over lockdown, as well as their thoughts about moving to Ysgol Bryn Alyn.

Deputy headteacher Johanna Ebrey said: "We hoped to make students' transition a little bit easier and wanted to support all of our students through this difficult time. The 'Time Capsule' is a lovely memento for our students and we will be giving them back to them at the end of their time with us here, at their Leavers Prom."

The 'Time Capsule' booklets allowed students to record their own personal journeys through Covid-19. Ysgol Bryn Alyn were so impressed with the efforts that students had gone to that they decided to award prizes for first, second and third places and students received a specially designed 'Lockdown Legends' badge for their efforts. First prize went to Louis Brimfield and Joseph Williams, second to Gethin Halsall and Brynley Stillings and third to Jaden Coppell and Emily Millington.

Headteacher Adele Slinn Headteacher added: "We are so proud of our students here and the resilience they have shown through this difficult time.

"The quality of work that students have produced has been astounding and it has been a real honour to look through their personal journeys.

"It has really helped us to get to know our students a little more and we hope they will treasure these memories that show what amazing young people they are.

"It is wonderful that throughout this project they really have shown our school motto Dream, Reach and Achieve. We look forward to supporting all of our students on their journey."
