A KITTEN was discovered in a skip where it is believed to have been dumped.

The kitten was discovered on Monday evening in a skip at Thorncliffe Building Supplies' Ewloe site.

The kitten was found with its tail partially severed, cement stuck to it and "seriously dehydrated and starving".

A spokesperson for Wrexham-based Candy & Tibby Trust - which rescues sick and injured cats and currently caring for the kitten - which they suspect was deliberately dumped in the skip.

They said: "One of my rescue's co-founders was alerted to the case late last night by a gentleman that regularly supports us.

"He kindly brought the kitten to my co-founders house, I picked him up immediately found him to be very weak and seriously dehydrated.

"We always carry kitten milk, syringes and pain relief, but I contacted the RSPCA with emergency codes to give basic medical veterinary care."

Candy & Tibby Trust says it knows most local veterinary practises, and contacted Vets Now - an out of hours service run at Rhyd Broughton Vets at night time.

The spokesperson said: "They [Vets Now] as usual went out of their way to see the kitten.

"Whilst I waited outside with him I hand fed him essentially fluids to support him and rehydrate him until he could be seen.

"Natasha, who is an amazing vet, took him in and gave him pain relief and examined him.

"She found the tail to be a mess and advised he be seen by a day time vet today (Tuesday) - so an appointment was booked for later today.

"We have asked on our Candy and Tibby Trust Facebook page for help towards his veterinary costs and on local social media lost and found groups."

Between June and September, the Candy & Tibby Trust neutered 88 cats/kittens, and it is run by volunteers with the help of local foster families who take in the cats.

The spokesperson added: "Hopefully its feeling a lot more comfortable and now it's in our care it will be rehabilitated and rehomed in the future when we feel the time is right. We will be contacting local vets later today to arrange for its tail to be operated on as soon as possible.

"We will be checking the site for the possibility of more kittens. If everyone neutered their cats it would save unnecessary births and poor kittens being injured or killed in situations like this."
