A CORONAVIRUS drive through testing centre has opened in Llangefni.

It is located on one of the Isle of Anglesey County offices car parks in Llangefni and can be accessed via the Llangefni Industrial Estate Road (opposite ATS Euromaster, LL77 7JA).

This mobile unit has been deployed by the Welsh Ambulance Service Trust at the request of the Welsh Government.

Anglesey residents displaying Coronavirus symptoms can now turn up in Llangefni and self-refer to undergo a test there.

Testing will take place for an initial three days (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday between 10.00am and 4.00pm).

Council Leader, Councillor Llinos Medi, has welcomed the arrival of a Coronavirus testing centre on Anglesey.

Cllr Medi said, “With the recent increase in positive cases in our communities, a testing site for Anglesey residents will be vital. This will ensure local residents do not have to visit other testing centres in lockdown areas on the mainland.”

“I’m grateful to Welsh Government for responding positively to our request to bring a testing centre to Anglesey; and colleagues at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, Welsh Ambulance Service Trust and Public Health Wales for their continued support.”

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s Executive Director of Public Health, Teresa Owen, added, “This site will increase our testing capability for local residents and complement several existing Health Board Community Testing Units (CTUs) across the region. These facilities are helping to safeguard the public and provide the best possible outcome for patients.”

The testing centre will not pose a risk to the public as stringent infection prevention measures are in place to protect people, staff and the wider community.
