A DEESIDE firefighter who was left fighting for his life after contracting coronavirus has now returned to work.

Six months ago, Steve Landon, from Wrexham, spent weeks on a ‘rollercoaster’ ride as he was in and out of intensive care at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

Steve was taken into hospital earlier this year via an ambulance after suffering with the virus, despite being fit and healthy.

The family has been sharing Steve's progress via social media to keep loved ones informed and spread the message that anyone can catch coronavirus.

Steve’s journey has touched the hearts of many people as he was ‘determined’ not to let the virus beat him.

Earlier this week, Steve returned to work.

Wife Becky said: “Six months ago Steve was fighting for his life in Intensive Care with Covid-19 and recently he went back to work.

“He has worked so hard to regain his fitness and strength.

“His determination shines through. We know Covid is not over and going back to work comes with its own worries, but he is determined to not let it stop him. That's my man.”

The Leader previously reported that Steve shared a heart-warming video explaining his progress and the impact of Covid-19.

In the video he was seen holding back teas as he thanked NHS staff for being his ‘family’ when he could not be with his.
