A 13-year-old Wrexham girl was found hanged at home, an inquest heard.
Chantelle Jones, of Llay New Road in Wrexham, was pronounced dead at Wrexham Maelor Hospital on the evening of October 1.
On Monday (October 12) inquest proceedings were opened into Chantelle's death.
The inquest in Ruthin heard that at 6.07pm on October 1 police had been alerted by paramedics to a person, later identified as Chantelle Jones, found hanged at an address on Llay New Road.
The air ambulance service and several paramedics attended the scene - but despite all care and efforts Chantelle, a student at Castell Alun High School in Hope, was pronounced dead at 6.35pm at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
Opening the inquest, John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, said he will conduct an "extensive investigation" into the circumstances surrounding "this tragic death".
A full inquest will be held at a date to be fixed.
Chantelle has been described as an "adorable young girl" who was "loved by all who met her" - with her death described as "absolutely devastating".
A fundraising page has been set up in aid of Chantelle's family, and has raised over £15,000.
