WREXHAM residents are being encouraged to shop local to support independent traders.

Wrexham Council have reassured members of the public that all reasonable measures have been taken to ensure their safety when shopping in the area, and are urging them to take advantage of the many markets that are available to them, including the Butchers Market, the General Market, the Monday Market and Tŷ Pawb.

The Covid-19 safety measures that have been introduced in the town centre include one way systems, hand sanitiser stations and social distancing champions who can give guidance and help answer any queries.

In light of the current local lockdown restrictions, the council has stated that they can only welcome visitors from the County Borough at the moment but they are looking forward to welcoming everyone back in the near future.

Cllr Terry Evans, lead member for economy at Wrexham Council, said: "Local businesses, including our town centre market traders are still able to open under the current restrictions.

"It is vital that we all continue to work together and follow all the safety guidelines so we can continue to support our town."

Cllr Hugh Jones, lead member for communities, partnerships, public protection and community protection, added: "The teams at Tŷ Pawb and the other town centre markets have been working tirelessly to ensure the safety of both traders and visitors, including one way systems, hand sanitising stations and staff on hand to answer any questions.

"I would like to thank all traders and staff for working so hard to ensure that they can continue to open safely to the public."
