MORE resources are needed to make communities safer, a local representative has said.

Jack Sargeant, MS for Alyn and Deeside, has been seeking residents’ views on anti-social behaviour and what needs to be done to tackle this.

The Member of the Senedd says he is frustrated with UK Government’s failure to provide additional resources to make his community safe.

He told the Leader: “Promises were made to our community by a Prime Minister who was seeking votes. He promised there would be significantly more police officers on our streets and our communities would be safer as a result

“We need more resources and I will continue to raise this until our community gets the resources we were promised.”

In a Letter sent to the Home Secretary Priti Patel, Mr Sargeant said he is seeking an explanation for the ‘failure to deliver’.

He wrote: “I am writing to you about police resources in my Alyn and Deeside constituency. Last year the Prime Minister came to my constituency and promised 62 additional police officers and safer communities, this promise has been broken.

“I recently asked residents to share their experience of policing in my constituency and many came back stating extra resources were needed.

“I write seeking an explanation for the failure to deliver on this promise and an apology to residents who have suffered from the resulting anti-social behaviour?”
