A MAN who died after being struck by a vehicle on the A55 was waiting on a verge, an inquest heard.
The inquest into the death of Michael Barnicle, 44, of Penrhyn Isaf Road, Penrhyn Bay, Llandudno, was opened and adjourned at Ruthin County Hall today (September 28).
Coronor for North East Wales John Gittins heard that at the time of the collision, about 1am on September 19, Mr Barnicle was at the side of the road as his Vauxhall Grandland X was being recovered near to the Northop on-slip.
He was standing on the verge when another vehicle drove alongside the nearside of the recovery vehicle and sadly struck Mr Barnicle, the inquest heard.
He was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics at 1.15am.
A post-mortem examination showed he had died as a result of a fatal head injury.
Mr Gittins adjourned the inquest and added that a date for the full hearing would be set after further investigations by North Wales Police.
