THE Amazon delivery station in Deeside has officially opened.

Amazon has opened the new delivery station in North Wales creating more than 50 permanent jobs at the 9,000 square metre site.

Amazon is working with more than a dozen independent delivery companies who have hired around 300 drivers to collect parcels from the delivery station and deliver them to Amazon customers in Cheshire and North Wales.

Packages will be shipped to the delivery station in The Airfields, Deeside from Amazon fulfilment and sortation centres and loaded onto vehicles to get delivered to customers.

The Leader previously reported in February of this year that the facility would be coming to the area.

Cindy Minnaar, senior delivery station manager, said: “We are delighted to have opened a delivery station in Deeside where Amazon’s 20+ years of operational expertise, technology advancements and investment in transportation infrastructure is enabling faster delivery for customers than ever before seven days a week.

“Deeside is a great location and we are excited to be delivering to our customers in Cheshire and North Wales.”

Amazon is also looking for individuals wanting to turn free time into supplementary income, working to their own schedule to deliver Amazon packages for between £13 and £15 per hour through their Amazon Flex programme.
