A MOLD mum spoke of her pride after her daughter achieved outstanding GCSE results.
Ysgol Maes Garmon student Nanw Hampson has achieved 13 A* grades, as well as a distinction in further maths.
The 16-year-old is planning to stay on at Maes Garmon for her A-levels in maths, music, Welsh and biology.
Her mum, Ffion Hampson, told the Leader: "She has no idea what she wants to do after her A-levels yet.
"She enjoys music and plays the harp. She is also passionate about being Welsh.
"Before the results were changed so they got their predicted grades, I was a bit worried because it was out of their hands.
"I was pleased when they changed it."
Speaking of the moment her daughter found out what grades she had been awarded, Mrs Hampson said: "Nanw was overwhelmed.
"We lost her taid - my father, Brian Morris - during lockdown. "He passed away in May and he was 76. He had a chronic lung condition and had been diagnosed with coronavirus in April and overcame it.
"But it was too much for him - he had a heart attack.
"When he was in the hospital he said finding out Nanw's results was keeping him going and she'd play the harp for him over Facetime every day.
"She has done fantastic and he'd have loved to have been there."
