Rhuddlan Town Council held a Commemoration Service on August 15 to mark the 75th anniversary of VJ Day (Victory in Japan Day).

Rhuddlan Castle and St Mary's Church were illuminated red for the anniversary of VJ Day which saw Japan surrender in the second world war, in effect bringing the conflict to an end.

Rhuddlan Mayor Cllr Arwel Roberts who attended the socially distanced event along with other civic dignitaries said: “Residents of Rhuddlan and members of the Town Council were keen to hold a service to pay their respects.

He added: "Thanks go to all who supported the service and respected the social distancing measures that were put in place.”

The Commemoration service raised £115 for the Mayor's good cause – the Royal British Legion.
