A PETITION has been launched to save a Costa Coffee shop which has become a "community hub".
The Leader reported on Friday morning that Costa Coffee Buckley announced it wouldn't be reopening its doors due "to the choice of its franchise bosses".
The Buckley precinct-based shop, which opened in 2016, had become a key pillar of the local community, being a place where police held weekly meetings with residents and having organised events like Easter treasure hunts.
It also set up a group for local mums to meet new people and make new friends.
And now a petition has now been launched by a local resident to save the shop.
The petition, titled 'Keep Our Costa Open', is calling on the chain to "reconsider its decision".
It states: "Costa in Buckley is a community hub and is valued massively by the local community. It is being closed.
"This is not ok. People will lose their jobs and our community will loose a much loved meeting place.
"This coffee shop has become a vital part of Buckley town. It supports other businesses, charities and the local schools. It is a shining example of what a community is and should be".
