MORE than 311,500 people have tested positive for covid-19 across the UK, health chiefs have said.

The Department of Health and Social Care has confirmed that as of 9am on August 10, a total of 311,641 people have tested positive for the disease.

The latest total comes after an increase of 816 on the previous day.

On July 17, the Secretary of State asked Public Health England (PHE) to urgently review the way daily death statistics are currently reported.

The Department of Health and Social care stated it was 'pausing' the publication of the daily figure while this review takes place.

As of August 10, this data remained unavailable.
