A WREXHAM resident has spoken of their anguish at items being taken from their parents grave.

Karen Richards, 65, whose parents, Margaret and Eifion Richards are buried together at St John's Church in Rhosymedre, has faced ongoing issues with numerous items such as lights and flowers being taken from their grave, with all incidents being reported to both the vicar and the police.

She said: "My mum passed away last year and my dad back in 2017, we were all very close.

"It's important to me that their grave looks as nice as possible, which is why it's so upsetting.

"I visit them every day and I hate knowing that someone thinks this sort of behaviour is acceptable - the lights may only be cheap but they're sentimental to me."

The Leader:

Ms Richards, who is celebrating her fifth year of being cancer-free and who suffers from a rare bone disease, stated that these ongoing incidents have added further stress and anxiety to her life.

She added: "To mark the first anniversary of my mum's death on July 14, I placed flowers on the grave which were my way of saying how much I missed her, but the following day, they had been taken.

"I've been very lonely since my mum passed away, as we used to do everything together.

"Since I've lost them both, I've gone through a really black patch mentally, which I'm seeking support for, but every time I see that items have been taken, it seems like I take a step back."

Ms Richards said the matter has been reported to police.
