Leader readers have shared their thoughts on reports that further fly-tipping incidents have taken place in Wrexham.
Earlier this week, one disgruntled resident, who wished to remain anonymous, shared several photographs of rubbish dumped outside their property in Gwersyllt, which they stated had become somewhat of a frequent occurrence.
With fly-tipping incidents seeming to be on the rise in the county during the Covid-19 pandemic, one Wrexham councillor spoke publicly about this issue in order to raise awareness.
Cllr David Bithell, lead member for place - environment and transport, spoke to the Leader after numerous reports via social media regarding fly-tipping in the area, which included a dumped mattress on a country lane, and questioned those responsible if it was worth the £1,000 fine if caught.
Here is what some of our readers had to say...
One reader, Bryan Pritchard, said: "While I agree fly-tipping is totally wrong, I wonder if the closing of the local amenity skip sites has been cost effective?"
However, one inquisitive reader, Barry Sands, added: "If you can just dump it why can't they just take it to a recycling centre instead?"
Tabetha Howell, said: "It’s been there for weeks and just keeps getting added to."
One disgruntled reader, Mike Newcombe, said: "They should go and live in a tower block in a city as punishment, and leave the country side for people who respect and love it."
Andrea Jones echoed: "More needs to be done as it's only going to get worse.
"We should all take pride in where we live."
