For most of us, our pets are top dog, whether they're furry, scaly, and regardless of leg count.

We've been asking our readers to share photos or stories of the animals in their lives.

Maybe you welcomed a rescue animal into your home, changing both your lives, or do you have an animal that has been your reason to be cheerful during the strange and isolating lockdown days?

Whatever species, we want to hear about them.

Or you can email claire.pierce@newsquest.co.uk

Here are some of your photos we've received...

• Susan Williams, from Wrexham: "My sister and brother-in-law have two beautiful French bulldog babies, Ziggy and Betty. They are funny and lovable, and bring a smile to everyone who meets them. They're pictured waiting for doggy ice cream at Talacre."

The Leader:

• Sharon Thomas, from Wrexham: "Heidi is the boss of the household. She enjoys eating a dog chew as a treat. However, she enjoys more the little game she plays with them. When she's given a chew she will hide it around the house. Behind a box, in a slipper, in the wardrobe, wherever appears to be appropriate for hiding. She will wait an hour or so and bark continuously for another chew, and repeat the hiding process. This continues with different members of the household. At the end of an evening she will hunt the hidden chews and will have a little feast. It's a good job the chews are split into quarters. Heidi is exhausted at the end of her little game, and so are the household members, while she frantically hunts the hidden chews."

The Leader:

• Brotherly love of Sooty and Sweep, cats of Kathleen Hulmes, from Wrexham.

The Leader:

• Hayley Woodhouse, from Myndd Isa: "Bella bear with her kittens the ghostbusters. They've kept me sane during lockdown. They were really good fun to watch and have loads of cuddles with. The kittens are seven-months-old and Bella will be seven in September. Big scary rottweiler loves her kittens."
