A DEALER found with hundreds of pounds worth of cocaine at the Flintshire home where he lived has been jailed.

Levi Matthews, of Sealand Avenue in Garden City appeared before Mold Crown Court to receive his sentence for possession of a Class A drug and the intent to supply.

Prosecutor Myles Wilson told the court how the 22-year-old was found in possession of 15 grams of cocaine and £300 in cash when police raided his property on August 15 last year.

Whilst at the property, officers also uncovered that he owned two bags of the bulking agent benzocaine and a set of scales in his kitchen that had ‘traces of white powder’.

The court heard that, following the raid, officers found more than £600 worth of cocaine in the defendant’s bedroom. Matthews was subsequently arrested and later admitted that the cocaine was his - but told police interviewers that it was for his own personal use.

The defence, Mark Connor, argued that this had been a “small scale operation” for “some financial gain” for which Mathews required “no associates”.

He adds that Mathews was “starting to grow up” and he had a desire to put his life of offending behind him.

Matthews was handed a 27-month prison sentence by the judge, Niclas Parry, who told him that custody was the only justified punishment.

He said: “You took a risk. It was worth it financially, but now you have to face the consequences.

“It is a worrying feature that those drugs were in a house where two minors were living as part of the family.”
