AN OLYMPIC Games medallist from Wrexham is to share one of her recipes in a live cookalong in aid of charity.

Celebrity Cookalong’s mission is to support various charities in need, by enabling people to make donations in aid of good causes and enter a raffle for the chance to join their favourite celebrities via video chat for intimate and immersive cookalongs.

The series has a star-studded list of more than 30 celebrities already lined up to host their very own fun intimate cooking lessons via online video chat, in aid of their chosen charities, including Alex Jones, Sir Ian Botham, Jodie Kidd, Ronni Ancona, Sally Phillips, Skye Mcalpine, Chemmy Alcott, Rebecca Adlington and many more.

Wrexham-born Vicky Thornley, who took Silver at Rio's 2016 Olympics and is training hard for the postponed Tokyo Olympic Games next year, is to take part in the event.

She will be making a lentil and cauliflower curry on Cookalong.tv from 7.30pm on August 20, in aid of KidsOut.

The charity provides disadvantaged children across the UK with exciting memories to cherish.

Christopher Mair, founder and CEO of Cookalong TV, said: "The COVID-19 pandemic has been an extremely challenging time for everyone, especially the most vulnerable members of society.

"With the launch of Cookalong TV and the Celebrity Cookalong series, we hope to provide some desperately needed financial support to the charities and volunteers who fundraise and help such worthy causes.

“By offering participants a fun and entertaining stay-at-home cooking experience, we aim to not only raise money for charities, but also use online video chat technology to brighten up people’s lockdown experience and, hopefully, give them a positive experience to look forward to during such difficult times."
