THE Countess of Chester was one of seven hospital trusts across England who recorded additional deaths of patients testing positive for coronavirus in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

NHS England data released this afternoon (July 13) shows that, as of 5pm yesterday, the total number of deaths registered by the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites – rose by two to 224.

The latest deaths sadly occurred on July 10 and July 11.

In hospitals across England there were 11 additional deaths of patients testing positive for the virus in the latest reporting period.

Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust recorded the most with four, followed by the Countess (2), London's Barts Health NHS Trust (1), Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (1), University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (1), Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (1) and Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust (1).

The Cheshire hospital death toll stands at 715 with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recording 212, East Cheshire NHS Trust 143, and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 136.
