A BANNER thanking the NHS and key workers has been unveiled in Llanwrtyd Wells.

Town mayor Lynda Pace Avery and town councillor Peter James attended the unveiling of the banner which reads “Thanks to all NHS & Keyworkers Llanwrtyd Wells”.

The banner has been placed on railings near the Red Kite sculpture in the town centre.

The mayor said: “We would have liked more councillors to attend the unveiling but we had to adhere to social distancing rules. Three of our councillors are shielding and others were working.”

A group of volunteers from the town have been busy making hundreds of vital scrubs and face masks for Welsh hospitals during the coronavirus lockdown.

Staff at Llandrindod Wells War Memorial Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil, Hereford Hospital, the Aneurin Bevan Health Board and Macmillan Palliative Care Powys have all received personal protective equipment (PPE) made by the Llanwrtyd scrubs team.
