SENIOR squad members at Colwyn Bay FC were acknowledged for their superb efforts with individual club awards.
It proved to be a memorable first season back in the Welsh pyramid for the Seagulls, who were allocated fourth position on a points-per-game basis after the Football Association of Wales curtailed remaining fixtures due to the coronavirus pandemic.
They are expected to be a lot closer to the title next time around, with manager Craig Hogg retaining the majority of his current squad and adding strong competition for places with the likes of Kieran Nolan, Lewis Sirrell and Sam Hart.
Talented full-back Alex Downes made 30 appearances for the club last term and was named Supporters’ Player of the Year, with Mitch Bryant taking home the top scorer title after netting 14 times and notching a further 14 assists during his first season at the Four Crosses Arena.
Skipper Tom McCready established himself as arguably the best player in the division with a series of exceptional displays, and the former AFC Fylde midfielder was chosen by the Seagulls’ board of directors as their Player of the Year.
Another standout contributor throughout the campaign was goalkeeper Andy Coughlin, who has four appearances shy of reaching his half-century in Bay colours and was voted Player’s Player of the Year thanks to his impressive consistency.
Rounding off the awards was the outstanding Bryant, who took away the Manager’s Player of the Year from Hogg thanks to his tremendous overall impact on the set-up.
