WREXHAM'S MP Sarah Atherton has welcomed the Welsh Governments announcement to allow non-essential retail businesses in Wales to re-open with covid safety measures in place.
The Welsh Conservative MP has been lobbying the Welsh Government reopen Wales’ economy, ensuring that Wrexham businesses don’t lose out to their competitors over the border.
First Minister Mark Drakeford made the announcement at the Welsh Government's press briefing earlier today (June 19).
Commenting on the announcement, Ms Atherton said: “Today’s announcement will bring about a sense of relief for many local businesses, it is the first step to bringing our highstreets back to life.
“I’m pleased that the Welsh Government has listened to calls to reopen Wales’ economy and has at last published a timetable for further lifting of restrictions, which is vital as we enter the recovery phase of this pandemic.”
