CADETS have been nominated to assist Holywell’s new mayor with duties once eased coronavirus restrictions permit them to do so.
Holywell Town Council recently made Cllr Lynda Carter the new town mayor for the coming year after the first virtual meeting of council members.
It was also announced that Holywell Army Cadets were selected by the Mayor as one of the chosen charities for her forthcoming year of office.
Cadet CSM Kacey Titley and Cadet Ellis Shennan are the current nominated mayoral Cadets for Holywell Detachment and say that they look forward to working with the mayor when the current restrictions are lifted.
Cllr Lynda Carter said: “I have personally witnessed the effect of joining the unit can have on a young person. Building confidence, promoting teamwork, and many other positive learning outcomes.
“My hope is not only to raise money for the detachment but also raise the profile in order to encourage more young people to join.”
The newly appointed town mayor added that she is keen to visit the Holywell Detachment once it is safe for all to do so.
Detachment Commander Louise McCabe-Allen said she looks forward to welcoming the mayor to the Detachment in due course.
