A DEESIDE dad has been praised for making PPE for a school prior to its full reopening later this month.

The Leader has reported on Connah's Quay resident Mark Mannering's PPE-making exploits which have seen him make well over 6,000 protective visors using his own 3D printers.

Ysgol Ty Ffynnon in Shotton heard of his brilliant work and contacted him to ask if he could supply some visors for staff at the primary school which will be fully reopening its doors to all pupils on June 29 along with every other school in Wales.

Mr Mannering, whose daughter Jessica herself is a pupil at Ysgol Ty Ffynnon, has kindly donated face masks that will be used if necessary by the school's staff.

Nia Goldsmith, the school's head teacher, said: "We are very grateful to Mr Mannering for donating the face masks to the school and all staff are looking forward to seeing the children returning to school later this month."

Mr Mannering said: "Obviously it's important to me that I protect everyone I can and teachers are in direct contact with our children.

"I am happy to help any and all schools if they need it."
