THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has recorded two new coronavirus deaths in the latest 24-hour reporting period, according to NHS England data.

Figures released this afternoon (June 5) show that, as of 5pm yesterday, the number of deaths of patients testing positive for the virus was 181.

The trust covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites.

The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 610 – a daily increase of four.

In the East Cheshire NHS Trust, two more coronavirus deaths were reported.

The Mid Cheshire Hospitals Trust and the Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust did not record any deaths in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

The Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded the most deaths with 186, followed by the Countess (181), Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (124) and East Cheshire NHS Trust (119).

Across England, a further 123 people – up from 115 yesterday – who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 27,282.

Patients were aged between 38 and 105 years old. One of the patients, aged 86, and had no known underlying health condition.

Today, 17 deaths are reported with no positive COVID-19 test result.
