A DEESIDE animal park has thanked the public for helping to keep animals fed whilst closed.

However, staff at Greenacres Animal Park in Mancot have said as they are still unable to open, money is becoming short.

A spokesman said: "Thank you again to everyone who continues to donate fruit and veg to us daily whilst we are unable to open.

"As I’m sure you have all heard by now, zoo’s and animal parks are still unable to open. We have been overwhelmed by such lovely messages of kind wishes in the past 24 hours.

"We hope to open as soon as possible but as you know we still have a while left, money is becoming short and we are beginning to worry about how we will manage through until we can open again.

"Not having to worry everyday about feeding our animals is one huge help that we are so grateful for, thank you again for the donations of: Dried parrot food, wet/dry dog food, wet/dry cat food, guinea pig food, rabbit food, chicken food and budgie feed.

"The animals have truly been loving the variety."

Anyone wishing to help the animal park can do so via the fundraising page at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/greenacresanimalpark-fundraising.

The park spokesman added: "Thank you again to everyone who has donated and continues to donate, we really do appreciate it."
