A VILLAGE in Wrexham is on track to form its own football club.

Earlier last month, the Ruabon Rovers Football Club, which is a senior men's team that will compete in the 2020/21 season, as part of the Clwyd East League on Saturday's, took to social media inform the public of its plan.

They posted: We've all missed football during this lockdown but Ruabon has missed it for a lot longer.

"The village has been without a team for a number of years - as the very heart of football in Wales, we believe this needs rectifying."

The have retaken to social media to inform the public of its progress after assuring that all of the necessary steps were taken to ensure that their plans succeed.

They posted: "We've made some real progress over the last few weeks - from securing our league application to sourcing kits etc and speaking with possible sponsors.

"We've also managed to secure an agreement for a pitch for the season and are now working on general housekeeping (insurance etc).

"All eyes are now on our pre-season and building a strong and aspirational squad for the 2020/21 season.

"Again all help is welcome, as there is still lots of work ahead.

"Hard-working and dedicated committee members wanted."
