THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has recorded one new coronavirus deaths in the latest 24-hour reporting period, according to NHS England data.

Figures released this afternoon (June 2) show that, as of 5pm yesterday, the number of deaths of patients testing positive for the virus was 174.

Two coronavirus deaths had been recorded in the figures released on Monday, June 1.

The trust covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites.

The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 595 – a daily increase of six.

In the East Cheshire NHS Trust, two more coronavirus deaths were reported, while the Mid Cheshire Hospitals Trust recorded one coronavirus death.

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recorded two deaths in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

The Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded the most deaths with 183, followed by the Countess (174), Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (123) and East Cheshire NHS Trust (115).

Across England, a further 143 people – up from 108 yesterday – who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 26,865.

Patients were aged between 36 and 100 years old. A total of eight of the 143 patients were aged between 48 and 91, and had no known underlying health condition.

Today, 12 deaths are reported with no positive COVID-19 test result.
